Kevin Lee Haefer Sr., 51, of Stanfield died Dec. 1 at the Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date at the First Baptist Church in La Grande.
Private inurnment will be in the Cove Cemetery.
Mr. Haefer was born June 18, 1954, in La Grande to Royal and Verna Smith Haefer.
Mr. Haefer was raised in Union, graduating from Union High School in 1973. He then lived in La Grande and worked for B & K Auto.
He married Darlene Steele in 1981. They later divorced.
He then moved to the Hermiston area, working first at C & B and later for PGG as a gas attendant from 1992 until 2002. Due to failing health he had to retire.
Mr. Haefer married Charlene Rhoader July 31, 1996, in Stanfield.
He was baptized a member of the First Baptist Church in 1962. He was an avid fly fisherman and loved to hunt. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends.
Mr. Haefer is survived by his wife, Charlene Haefer of Stanfield; a son, Kevin Haefer Jr. of Bay Shore, N.Y.; his mother and stepfather, Verna and Fred Hill of La Grande; a sister, Cheryl Wagoner of La Grande and a brother, Ferrin Haefer and his wife, Jean of Enterprise; stepchildren, Paula Webb of Stanfield, Joe Rhoades of Troutdale, John Rhoades of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, Courtland Rhoades of Ontario and Tammy Pike of Hermiston. Four nephews and a niece also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Royal Haefer.
