Kenneth Merritt Snowberger, age 80, of La Grande died Friday, April 20, 2007 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Pendleton. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Private interment will be at the Grandview Cemetery in La Grande.
Mr. Snowberger was born on April 6, 1927, the son of Merritt Kenneth and Vivian (Jameson) Snowberger in Payette, Idaho. On May 30, 1948 he married Nettie Marie Ring in McPherson, Kansas. They moved to La Grande in 1973. He loved teaching children of Christ and served as Vacation Bible School teacher and Sunday school teacher. He also worked with the puppet ministry and with the Boy Scouts. His family was very important to him and was a caring person who accepted everyone without judgment.
Survivors include his children, Diane Smith of Wichita, Kansas, Kathy Snowberger of Bend, Patricia Downing of Hermiston, Daniel Snowberger of Tracy, California and Larry Snowberger of Port Angeles, Washington; sister, Mildred Whipple of Fruitland, Idaho; 20 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; two great great grandchild; and other relatives and friends. His wife preceded him in death on October 6, 2005 and his son, David Snowberger on December 7, 2005.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Sonrise Free Methodist Building Fund in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
