Kenneth William Kennedy, Sr.

June 24, 1935 — January 12, 2006

Kenneth William Kennedy, Sr., age 70, a lifetime resident of Elgin, died, Thursday, January 12, 2006 in Walla Walla, Washington. A celebration of life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Private interment will be held later.

Mr. Kennedy was born on June 24, 1935, the oldest of the seven children of William Howard and Mildred Elizabeth (Phillips) Kennedy in Elgin. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1953 and attended OTI. He served with the United States Army from 1953 until 1961. During the mid 1960's he worked as an independent logger and later went to work for Elgin Auto Parts and a parts man and mechanic. He worked there until his retirement.

Mr. Kennedy was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom and huckleberry picking and just enjoyed nature. He was a member of the NRA and was part of the gang at the Brunswick where he had many friends.

Survivors include his daughters, Scherrill McNutt of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Sandra Colby of Milford, New Hampshire; son, Kenneth Kennedy, Jr. of the Tacoma, Washington area; mother, Mildred Kennedy of Elgin; brothers, Richard Kennedy of Pendleton, David Kennedy of Elgin and Rex Kennedy of Elgin; sisters, Barbara Prince of Kamiah, Idaho and Joyce Beck Tri Cities, Washington; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Bruce Kennedy and his wife of 26 years, Mary Kirby Boggs.
