May 13, 2007, Kenneth ("Billy" to friends and family) William Kennedy, Jr., died in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, at the age of 46 years old.
Billy was born in La Grande, Oregon on April 26, 1961 to Kenneth William Kennedy, Sr. and Flora Eileen (Collingwood). He grew up in Oregon, attended school in Elgin, and graduated from Elgin High School in 1980. Soon after graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. For a time Bill served at Eielson AFB in Alaska, and was discharged from the Air Force in 1984.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting around the Elgin area, and liked to fish at Wallowa Lake as well. He enjoyed family picnics and reunions whenever he was able to attend. He was someone who had a funny sense of humor and was a kindhearted soul. Some of his hobbies included jewelry making and writing.
After the deaths of his father, Kenneth W. Kennedy (January 12, 2006) and paternal grandmother, Mildred E. (Phillips) Kennedy (April 14, 2006), Billy moved to Oklahoma to be near his sister Scherrill and her family, and stayed there until his untimely death this past Sunday.
Billy is survived by his mother, Flora Gedenberg, Pocatello, Idaho; sister and brother-in-law, Scherrill and Todd McNutt, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Wendy Jorgensen, of La Grande, Oregon; sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Dan Colby, Milford, New Hampshire; and brother and sister-in-law, T. David and L. Gale Kennedy, of New Plymouth, Idaho. Bill's surviving family also includes several aunts and uncles throughout the Pacific Northwest, nieces and nephews in Oregon, Idaho, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Hampshire, and cousins throughout the United States.
He was predeceased by a sister and brother, father and step-mother, and grandparents. A memorial service will be conducted at the Elgin Cemetery, late this summer or early autumn. (Details to follow prior to the date.)
