Kelsie Findley Makin, 88, of Wallowa County, died Jan. 25 at his home surrounded by his family. Private family services will be held later.
He was born March 6, 1922, to Walter and Mural (Simons) Makin at Lower Imnaha. He served in the military during WWII in Burma.
He married Arlyne Caudle Nov. 15, 1947. She preceded him in death Nov. 17, 2007.
Kelsie, along with his father and two brothers, owned one of the first trucking businesses in Wallowa County for several years. He retired from the mills in Joseph after 26 years.
He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed teaching them skills to help them through life.
Survivors are a sister, Mildred Fisher, 92, of Enterprise; daughter, Elaine and her husband, Don Voetberg, of La Grande; son, Lynn Makin of Lostine; daughter, Kathy and her husband, Lynn Clary, of Lostine; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and a sister.
