Kathleen Anita Dunning

Kathleen Anita Dunning, age 60, of La Grande, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at her home. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. A celebration of life reception will follow the mass in the Parish Hall.

Mrs. Dunning was born on July 7, 1944, the daughter of Clarence and Doris (Holt) Farr in Sun Valley, California. In her younger years she was a 4-H Leader and raised and showed Labrador Retrievers. As a young woman she traveled to Germany and Hawaii. She married Jack Dunning on September 5, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived in Brookings Harbor before moving to La Grande in 1980. She was a stay at home Mom while her daughters were young and didn't start her career until they were in school. She worked as a personal banker for Wells Fargo Bank until her retirement.

Mrs. Dunning was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and was the Treasurer on the Executive Board for many years and was also a part of the Women of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. She was involved with many church events, especially the Spring Luncheon, rummage sale, bazaar and St. Theresa's Circle. She enjoyed traveling to historical places, boating, camping and fishing. She enjoyed a memorable cruise to Alaska. She loved to see all of God's beauty in its natural setting. She had enjoyed ceramic classes and most recently college computer classes.

Mrs. Dunning was a cancer survivor and was dedicated to her family and enjoyed watching her daughters and granddaughters compete on their horses. She was an avid Imbler School District Sports fan, especially when watching her grandchildren and would always be ringside at the Union County Fair when they would show their lambs. She loved music and was an opera fan. She will be remembered for her humor and laughter.

Survivors include her husband , Jack Dunning of La Grande; children, Trish & Rich McDaniel and their children, Dalton, Wesley and Jessica of Summerville and Tammie & Mike McDaniel and their daughter, Haley of Osburn, Idaho; brother and sister-in-law, Donald & Ginger Farr of Flat Rock, North Carolina and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father in 1987 and her mother 1961.
