Katherine "Kate" Evelyn Talbott

Katherine Evelyn "Kate" Talbott, age 96, of La Grande, died September 16, 2008 at a local care facility. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street, La Grande. Committal and interment will follow at the Hillcrest East Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Daniels~Knopp.

Mrs. Talbott was born on August 21, 1912, the daughter of Joseph and Manda (Milovich) Thomas in Tooele, Utah. The family moved to La Grande when she was young and she was education here. On July 12, 1934 she married Ernest Talbott in La Grande. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1958. She had various jobs outside her home but worked for many years at "Wayne's Market" until she retired. She was a member of Royal Neighbors and the Mt. Emily Old Time Camp for over fifty years. She enjoyed playing pinochle, gardening, cooking and bowling. She loved the outdoors and playing horseshoes. Her family was her main focus and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and at family gatherings.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Ernestine and Wayne Simonis, Judy and Dean Stone and Joe and Diann Talbott, all of La Grande; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; fifteen great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Johnnie Thomas, Nick Thomas, Matilda Tsiatsos, Frank Thomas, Mike Thomas, Paul Thomas and Pete Thomas.
