Karrel Johnson

December 6, 1935 — March 15, 2006

Karrel Johnson, 70 of Wallowa died March 15 while vacationing in Laredo, Texas. Burial was March 27 at Bramlet Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson was born Dec. 6, 1935 to Ed and Edna Erickson Stowe in La Grande.

She graduated from Elgin High School in 1953 and was queen of the Elgin Stampede.

On Dec. 12, 1953 she married Wayne Johnson. She worked at the family store, Shell Mercantile Inc., the Oregon Department of Forestry in Wallowa and for the Wallowa public schools.

She was an artist and played the piano and was active in 4-H, the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed being outdoors, hunting fishing, playing with her horses and dogs, riding four-wheelers and being with her grandchildren. She was full of life.

Survivors include her husband of Wallowa; her mother, Edna Flanery of La Grande; children and their spouses, Kerry and Darlene Johnson of Wallowa, Karl and Guinevere Johnson of Bend, Karin and Chris Nix of Hico, Texas and Kristi Johnson of Umatilla; and two grandchildren. Her father died earlier.
