Karen Louise Rose

August 1, 1950 — February 9, 2013

Karen Louise Rose, age 62, of Cove, died February 9, 2013 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cove. Those who wish may make contributions in her memory to the Calvary Baptist Church in care of Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.

Karen was born on August 1, 1950, the daughter of John C. and Julia (Mueller) Koenig in Van Nuys, California. The family moved to Cove when she was twelve. She went to school in Cove and then the La Grande High School. After graduating with the class of 1968 she went on to Eastern Oregon College where she earned her B.S. in Anthropology/Sociology. She met her future husband while at college and in 1971 she married Lyndon Rose in Cove. She was involved with the Home Extension Office for many years and was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She loved to listen to 88.1 Christian Radio. She enjoyed the outdoors, walking and hiking and loved to be in her garden and yard. She had vegetable and flower gardens and planted many trees, shrubs and flowers on their property. She also enjoyed beautifying and decorating her home. Her favorite times of the year were Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Lyndon Rose of Cove; children, Robert Rose of Cove, Jennifer Rose of Cove and Michael Rose of Fort Drum, New York; sister, Linda Koenig of Walla Walla, Washington; brother-in-law, David Hanson; Charles Koenig and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carol Hanson.
