June Verleen Dice, 83, of La Grande, died Sept. 4 at a local care center in La Grande. A private memorial service will be held at the Willamette National Veterans Cemetery where she will be buried next to her loving husband.
June was born June 6, 1927, to Charles and Edna (Petersen) Cook at Ogden, Utah. She lived most of her life in California with her husband, Walter, and their two daughters until they moved to Oregon in 1985 to be near their family.
She was a medical assistant for many years and loved working with patients. She served as president of the local chapter of Children's Home Society in the 1960s.
June enjoyed gardening and shopping, and those who knew her say she was an accomplished interior decorator. But her greatest love was her family.
June is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Vickie and Gary Lee of La Grande and Leslie and Larry Gertner of Aurora; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by husband, Walter I. Dice Jr; parents; one brother; and four sisters.
