Juanita Mae Messick

Juanita "Nita" Mae Messick, 81, of La Grande, died May 26 at a local care center.

A celebration of life will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ, 2107 Gekeler Lane in La Grande.

Juanita was born March 8, 1928, to Gordon and Effie (Self) Corn in Tahlequah, Okla. She married Garland "Cal" Messick Nov. 11, 1972, in Carson City, Nev. He died in 2006.

She is survived by her son, Ronald "Ron" Austin of Union; sister, Maxine Epperly of Wister, Okla.; brother, Frank Corn of Sapulpa, Okla.; and two grandsons.
