Juanita P. Huff

Juanita P. (Steele) Huff, 87, of Wallowa County, died April 12 after an extended illness at Wallowa Memorial Hospital. Services are not planned.

Juanita was born Jan. 12, 1924, to G.T. and Alma Steele in Halfway. She was one of 12 siblings. She married Wayne W. Huff on Aug. 19, 1940. Together, they had a son, Jerry; daughter, Kathleen; and son, Kim.

Those who knew Juanita say she was a great cook and talented seamstress and painter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerry; four sisters, Marvel Savage, Elaine Hensley, Carol McKim and Shirley Marker; two brothers, Gene and George Steele; one great-granddaughter; and other relatives.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Wayne; daughter, Kathleen Smith of Battle Mountain, Nev.; son, Kim Huff of Hermiston; two sisters, Aleah Huff and her husband, Dean, of Seattle, and Barbara Armstrong of Pendleton; three brothers, Art Steele and his wife, Wanda, of Pendleton, Bill Steele and his wife, Wanda, of Halfway and Steve Steele and his wife, Pat, of Stanfield; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
