Joyce Marie Weitlauf

December 31, 1936 — June 19, 2003

Joyce Marie Weitlauf, age 66, of High Valley Ranch, and formerly of Santa Cruz, died June 19, 2003 at her home.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Monday, June 23, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Union with Father Hank Albrecht celebrating. Committal and interment will follow at the Union Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Weitlauf was born on December 31, 1936, the daughter of Johnnie and Lena (Genovesi) Montanari in San Jose, California. On November 17, 1957 she married Fred Weitlauf in Boulder Creek, California. In 1974 they moved to their High Valley Ranch where she helped her husband. She also worked as a dental assistant and later as bookkeeper for La Grande Nursing for 20 years.

Mrs. Weitlauf was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Union. She loved to roller skate, snow ski and swim. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, cooking, dancing and being involved with her children and grandchildren's activities.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Weitlauf of High Valley; children, Theresa M. and David Fuhrman of La Grande, John F. and Patti Weitlauf of Union and Charlene E. and Scott Neill of Brush Prairie, Washington; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. A sister, Beverly Wingert, preceded her in death.
