Joyce G. Bird, 76, of Canon, Ga., and formerly of Enterprise, died May 16 at her home.
Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Joseph Cemetery. A gathering for family and friends will follow at 4 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Enterprise. Joyce and her husband, Geary, were members of the church for years, and Geary served as a pastor there as well. Refreshments and desserts will be served.
Joyce was born Jan. 8, 1933, to Kenneth Showers and Dorothy Henderson Showers in Enterprise. She married Geary F. Bird in 1951. She graduated from Joseph High School in 1952. She and her husband owned and operated businesses in Enterprise and in Klamath Falls. She attended Concordia University in Portland from 1966 to 1967 and McComb Community College in 1969, graduating from Sangamon State in Springfield, Ill., in 1971. She earned the designation of Master Gardener from the University of Georgia in 1996.
Survivors include her husband, Geary; three sons, Dennis of Milford, Ohio, Chris of Edmond, Okla., and Michael of Sidney, Neb.; a daughter, Karen Carney of Rocky Mount, N.C.; and 10 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joyce Bird Memorial Fund, Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1154, Toccoa, GA 30577.
