Joy Gail Beardsley

April 15, 1943 — November 12, 2007

Joy Gail Beardsley, age 64, of La Grande, and formerly of Summerville, died Monday, November 12, 2007 at her home. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2007 at the Summerville Cemetery Chapel. Private interment will be at the Summerville Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street, on Thursday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 until noon.

Joy was born April 15, 1943 in La Grande to Loren and Edna (Gekeler) Turner. She attended Union Schools and graduated there in May of 1961. She was active in Volleyball, Band and was a drum Majorette. She then attended Eastern Oregon University and majored in Business Education. She was later employed by the Union County Clerk's office for several years.

Joy met and married Skip Beardsley and built a beautiful home in Summerville where they raised their three children. She was very supportive of all her kid's activities. She was active in her sorority, Delta Epsilon, and was a 4-H leader for quite a few years. She loved country music and dancing, camping with her grandchildren and spending time with her best friends (the lunch bunch). She loved sports of all kinds, especially rodeo. She loved entertaining and the holidays and to travel. She was always game for anything. She moved to La Grande in 2001 where she lived out the rest of her years.

Survivors include her son, Kevin Beardsley of Gypsum, Colorado; Troy & Denise Beardsley of Gypsum, Colorado; daughter, Robyn Beardsley and boy friend, Dan Dix of La Grande; brother, Darrell Turner of Redmond; sister, Marlene Turner of Union; grandchildren, Kody Beardsley and Eric Collins; three step-granddaughter, nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Those who wish may make contributions in her memory to the charity of their choice.
