Josephine "Jo" Lois Anderson

Josephine Lois "Jo" Anderson, age 83, of La Grande, died Monday, August 25, 2008 at a local care facility. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.

Mrs. Anderson was born on June 23, 1925, the daughter of Daniel and Effie (Millican) Garinger in Omaha, Nebraska. She was educated in Colorado Springs and on November 11, 1943 she married West Anderson. They lived in various places and she owned and operated restaurants in Florence, Arizona and in Oklahoma. In late spring of 1974 they moved to La Grande. She worked various jobs, her last when she was in her 70's, was for Dave's Grocery as the Ice Cream Lady.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. The 700 Club and Billy Graham were a big part of her life. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and was known as the "QVC Queen" by her family. She gardened and canned and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Dan Anderson of La Grande and Jim Watson of Marion, Montana; brothers, Dave Garinger of Spokane, Lloyd Garinger of Ritter, Oregon and Harry Garinger of La Grande; sister, Pauline Henry of Wenatchee, Washington; seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Eileen Anderson in 1965 and her husband in 2000.

Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Jo to the Trinity Baptist Church in La Grande.
