Johnny Gore

March 6, 1935 — March 31, 2005

Johnny Gore, age 70 of La Grande, died Thursday, March 31 at the Veterans hospital in Seattle, Washington. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Johnny Gore was born on March 7, 1935, the son of Samuel and Sula (Todd) Gore in Conway, South Carolina. Mr. Gore attended schools in Horry County, South Carolina and after high school, enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country during the Korean and Vietnam era. Mr. Gore later received an honorable discharge after twenty years of service. On November 17, 1961, Johnny married Jeanette Clark in Reno, Nevada. Together the couple moved to the Grande Ronde Valley where Johnny was employed with Boise Cascade as a truck driver and later retired in 1984. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching western shows on television, and most of all spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Gore of La Grande; children and their spouses, Raymond and Sandra Gore of La Grande and Les and Missy Gore of Union; five grandchildren; four brothers and sisters, Frank Gore of Chaparral, New Mexico, L.G. Gore of South Carolina, May Gore and Carolyn Gore, both of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and other relatives and friends. His parents and a brother, Elwood Gore all preceded him in death.
