John Harold "Jack" Williamson, age 70, of La Grande, died February 15, 2007 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church on the corner of 6th and Spring in La Grande.
Jack was born on May 26, 1936 to Harold and Shirley (Thomas) Williamson of Albany, Oregon. He graduated from Jewel High School and later from Western Oregon University with a degree in teaching. On November 29, 1958 he married Sandra Allen from Portland, Oregon and settled down in Fossil, Oregon. In 1960 he enlisted for one term in the Army and served honorably. He went on to work for NASA in Pasadena, California, logging in Eastern Oregon and home construction in La Grande. He will likely be best remembered by his later years driving around La Grande in his little blue pick-up doing mobile RV repair. Jack loved the Lord, his family and his friends. He was always happy to consider a new face a friend and we always eager to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting on mule back and ATVing, but, a handshake and a hug always brought him the most joy.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra of La Grande; children, Annette Lamb of The Dalles and Justin Williamson of Tigard; brother, Jerry Williamson of Tucson, Arizona; sister, Bonnie Campbell of Heppner; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Mr. Williamson to the First Baptist Church for NoSU in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
