John Leddy

March 19, 1922 — July 12, 2010

John Leddy, 88, of Imbler, died July 12 at a local nursing center. His graveside service with military honors will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Summerville Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Loveland Funeral Chapel.

John was born March 19, 1922, to John and Minnie Westfall Leddy in Ashland, Neb. He was raised and educated in Ashland where he worked for several different farmers. He enlisted in the Navy and went to the Philippines during World War II, serving as a machinist mate.

On Sept. 22, 1941, he married Marjorie Cobb in Boise. They moved to Imbler where they purchased the farm on which Marjorie still resides. John loved camping and fishing. He was handy with his hands and enjoyed gardening, yard work and everything to do with the outdoors.

Surviving are his wife, Marjorie of Imbler; one son, Larry and his wife, Faye Leddy, of The Dalles; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four stillborn children; half sister, Barbara Vinson; and sisters, Ruby Morris and Ruth Johnson.
