Joan "Jo" Vandevert Orr

Joan "Jo" Vandevert Orr, 88, formerly of La Grande, died Oct. 17 at Life Care Center in McMinnville. Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in McMinnville. To leave private online condolences, visit www.macyandson.com.

She was born Jan. 22, 1922. She married Bob Orr in 1952. They have three children, Nancy Orr, Keith Orr (Patty Thomas) and Lori Jo Orr.

Jo and Bob lived for many years in La Grande, where they were active in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, scouting, camping, birding and skiing. She worked as a general nurse and as camp nurse for many years at Ascension Summer School in Cove.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Barnabas Soup Kitchen or Shriners Hospital of Portland in care of Macy & Son.
