Jewelldene Beickel of Imbler, Oregon died Thursday, November 9, 2023, in La Grande at the age of 81.
A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Summerville Baptist Church. Private interment took place at the Summerville Cemetery.
Jewelldene Alice Stroh was born on May 31, 1942, in St. Helens, Oregon. She was one of 5 children born to Clifford and Florence (Jewell) Stroh. She was raised and educated in St. Helens, graduating with the class of 1960. On July 21, 1961, she married her high school sweetheart, Frank Beickel in the Warren Baptist Church near St. Helens. After helping her husband get his Pharmacy Degree from OSU they moved, first to Pendlelton in 1965 then Alicel in 1970 before settling in Imbler in 1974 where they have remained since.
She was a devoted homemaker and mother. Her family was her delight. She was a great blessing to her grandchildren who all adored her. She loved to entertain people and make life special for those she loved. She was an active member of the Summerville Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years. She also served with other children's ministries where she had the opportunity to share the Love of Jesus. She belonged to the La Grande Country Club where she golfed and played cards. At various times over the years, she enjoyed being in a bowling league, playing in pinochle clubs and a long-running bridge club. She worked for Avon and Fuller Brush and earned the level of District Manager of both companies
Surviving relatives include her husband of 62 years, Frank Beickel of Imbler. Son Chuck (Tammie) Beickel of Syracuse, Utah, daughters Teri (Franklin) Humber of La Grande, April (Jim) Sweigart of Clinton, Utah, 15 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and a sister.
