Jeremiah Adam Johnston

Jeremiah Adam "Maya" Johnston, age 28, of Elgin, a victim of murder last month, died near Elgin. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Hu-Na-Ha RV Park in Elgin on Saturday, August 8, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Maya was born on July 6, 1981 in Atchison, Kansas. He came to Elgin in 1987 and attended Elgin Schools. He was very good with his hands and did carpentry work over the years. He loved the outdoors, fishing, mushrooming and camping. He was very intelligent and enjoyed reading all types of literature. He had a great love of animals and children, especially his daughters.

Survivors include his daughters, Acacia and Signey Johnston of Maine; mother and step-father, Nora and Leo Kepplinger of Elgin; sister and brother-in-law, Joie and Kelly Becker and their three children of Elgin; step-father, Gery Sirrine of Elgin; step-sister, Desta Sirrine and family of Salem; numerous brothers, a sister, aunts, uncles and cousins in Kansas and many other extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to ARC in care of Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, OR 97850.
