Jed A. Henderson, 47, resident of La Grande, and former resident of Ashland and Klamath Falls, was the victim of a homicide in La Grande and died on Sept. 6, 2008.

He is survived by his children, Catlin and James, father, John A. Henderson of Texas, mother, Leonora Henderson of California, sister, Gail Milina, her husband Steve, nephew and niece Derek Nieman and Brooke Nieman of California, aunt and uncle Sonja and James Walls of Florida, and by two lifelong friends who were like brother to him, Jerry Steffler of California and Frank Klug of Oregon.

Jed served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Germany and Colorado for 11 years. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he earned a B.S. degree in Environmental Studies from Southern Oregon University. Jed loved the outdoors and outdoor activities, especially hiking, camping, backpacking and fishing in Oregon and the California Trinity Alps. Jed was a member of Oregon Mensa. Jed will be remembered for his sense of humor and irony and for his great love of fun and adventure.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Loveland Funeral Chapel.
