Janet Marie Driessen

Janet M. Driessen formerly of Elgin, died Saturday, August 24, 2024 in La Grande at the age of 82.

A service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Grande REACH 10200 N. McAlister Rd., Island City.

Janet was born on March 31, 1942, oldest of three children born to Edgar and Ethel (Vincent) Aldous in Seneca, Oregon where she was raised and educated.

She worked in many areas including Avon sales where she earned the position of District Manager. At one time she drove truck as well as other vocations but primarily she was a mother and home maker.

Janet was a member  of the Grande REACH ministries in Island City. She had been active for many years with the Moose Lodge and more recently was active with the Well-Armed Women, gun owners and self-protectors. She enjoyed intarsia, a form of wood inlay design technique using precisely fit pieces of wood. For several years she has enjoyed prospecting and panning for gold.

Preceding her in death were parents, her husband, John Driessen in 2021, her brother Del Aldous 2017 and her sister Patricia Deal 2015

Remaining family are her children Suzette Schaffer of La Grande, Bruce Layng of Coulee City, Washington and Kevin Layng of Silverdale, Washington; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson, Sister-in-law Ally Aldous of Pasco Washington
