James "Lowell" Westenskow, age 70, of Imbler, died Monday, February 3, 2003 at his home.
A service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Summerville Cemetery with Bishop Richard Rasmussen of the Elgin Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints conducting. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Interment will be at the Summerville Cemetery.
Mr. Westenskow was born on October 3, 1932, the son of Jacob Lamar and Julia Lucille (McClune) Westenskow in Imbler, Oregon. He attended Imbler High School where he played basketball and football. After graduating he attended Brigham Young University. He enlisted in the United States Army where he had an office in the Pentagon and was a guard for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. After his honorable discharge he returned to Oregon and was an officer of a bank in Ontario. He later moved to Imbler where he farmed and was awarded the Young Farmer of the Year award from the Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed working with his hands, was an excellent auctioneer, loved cars, people, BYU football and traveling to Hawaii.
Survivors include his son, Lowell "Scott" Westenskow of West Linn, Oregon; brothers, Pete Westenskow of The Dalles, Oregon, Dean Westenskow of Pocatello, Idaho and Joe Westenskow of Elk, Washington; sisters, Mary Ann Cox of Santa Clara, Utah, Carolyn Franks of Kennewick, Washington, Mertha Fields of John Day, Oregon and Winona Darling of Tacoma, Washington; and other relatives and friends.
