James "Jim" Trimble, age 93, of La Grande, died January 2, 2004 in a local care facility. The funeral will begin at 10am Saturday at Loveland Funeral Chapel with Father Hank Albrecht of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church officiating. A private burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mr. Trimble was born on July 10, 1910, to Viola Mae and John T. Trimble Sr. in Helena, Montana. He married Eleanor Greenan in June of 1938. The couple moved to La Grande in 1939 and ran the Credit Bureau of La Grande until 1979. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the La Grande Country Club. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and worked through all the chairs to become Exalted Ruler in 1958. He served as Oregon president in 1963. In 1994 he was named to the Oregon Elks Association's Hall of Fame. He was a great storyteller.
Survivors include his nephew, John T. Trimble of Spokane. His wife and a brother, John Jr., both died earlier. Memorials may be made to any charity.
