James Wellington Robinson

February 10, 1910 — March 27, 2004

On March 27, 2004 marks the passing of James Wellington Robinson. Jim was born on Feb. 10. 1910 in Roundup Montana but spent his younger years in the Baker valley working on ranches and sawmills in the area. In 1937 he married his one and only Mildred Hanby, she preceded Jim in passing on June 14, 2000.

They started a family that grew in size and love. He is survived by a sister, Isabelle Murchison, Hamilton Montana, daughter Bonnie Langley, husband Earl, Huntington Ore. Daughter Betty Rutherford, and husband Ronald, Seattle, WA. Son Gary H. Robinson, Hermiston, Ore. Grandchildren include Sherrie James, Nancy Briggs, Jerry James, Joe James, Ronda McLeod, Patsy Gorman, Randy Rutherford, Terry Robinson, Tammie Robinson, Glenda Taylor. Great grand children number 21 and great-great grand children amount to 9 more. He also had numerous nieces and nephews that he enjoyed and loved watching grow up.

Jim and family spent several years in the Portland area as well as Seattle were Jim worked for Greyhound Bus Company for 10 years. Eventually they came back to LaGrande were Jim went to work for the LaGrande School Dist in various capacities. He enjoyed the people he worked with but working with the bus drivers was his favorite duty.

For many of the years in LaGrande Jim and Mildred owned two different cabins in the Starkey area and spent nearly every weekend in the mountains either hunting for deer or elk or fishing the streams and rivers. Jim was one of the first snowmobile owners in that area and so winter became another adventure for this pair after Jim retired. His love for the outdoors never left him and his appreciation for the beauty of the Blue Mts. areas in eastern Oregon.

Jim was well liked by many friends acquired over the years and loved by his family and will be missed and loved for ever.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 2, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
