James Willard Lloyd

James Willard Lloyd, age 86, of Summerville, died October 28, 2008 at his home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summerville Baptist Church. Viewing will be held on Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.

Mr. Lloyd was born on May 1, 1922, the son of John and Frances (Ross) Lloyd in Cokeville, Wyoming. The family moved to Summerville when he was one year old. He attended Dry Creek School and graduated from Imbler High School. He married Mildred Ruttan on September 16. 1945 In La Grande. Farming was his love and his hobby. He also worked for Boise Cascade for eight years while farming. He was a member of the Summerville Baptist Church and served on the Summerville Cemetery Board for several years. He and Mildred enjoyed fishing together.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Lloyd of Summerville; children, Barbara and Ron Caswell of Summerville, Louise and Ken Grey of Snowflake, Arizona and Arnold Lloyd of Fresno, California; grandsons, James Caswell of Tacoma and Wayne Caswell of Portland; two great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother John "Jack" Lloyd.

Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Mr. Lloyd to the Summerville Baptist Church or the Oregon Heart Association.
