James "Jim" Oliver Hudson

April 5, 1942 — February 16, 2012

James "Jim" Oliver Hudson, age 69, died on February 16, 2012 at his home with his family. At this time no services are planned. Those who wish may make contributions in his name to the GRH Hospice or the Union County Search and Rescue in care of Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.

Jim was born on April 5, 1942, the son of James Edward and Cleo Elmyra (Woodell) Hudson in La Grande. At the age of 14 he went to work for Pete and RB Davis on their cattle ranch. He graduated from La Grande High School with the class of 1960. In August of 1962 he married Donna Taal in Weiser, Idaho. He worked for Boise Cascade doing road building. He then worked for the Union County Public Works Department for 36 years ending his career as a grader operator.

Jim was very interested in the NRA and loved fishing and hunting. He made hunting knives and was very crafty in many ways. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a man that always welcomed people. Jim was always there to lend a helping hand.

Survivors include his wife, Donna of La Grande; daughter and son-in-law, Stacie Dawn and Glen Brown of North Powder; grandchildren, Jesse James Brown, Jamie Nichole Brown, Liz Stockhoff, and Doug Gardner; great grandson, Tristan Stockhoff; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Janis Hudson of Summerville; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Chuck MacKenzie of Ola, Idaho; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by son, Troy Alan Hudson in 1963, his parents, and a sister, Joann Shelly.
