Isabel Musum, age 88, of La Grande, died Monday, July 1, 2002 at the Grande Ronde Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2002 at Bramlet Cemetery in Wallowa. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. Musum was born on February 5, 1914, the daughter of Jack and Dollie (Dougherty) Johnson in Wallowa. She graduated from high school in Wallowa with honors. In May 1937 she graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Spokane where she was valedictorian. She received the honor of having an article published in the Nurse's magazine as the best contributed from all student nurses from all the hospitals. She immediately was employed as a supervising nurse in the Spokane area. She worked as a nurse for Shriner's Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital and for local doctors.
On September 11, 1946 she married Arnold B. Musum in Coeur de Lane, Idaho. Mr. Musum was stationed in Roswell, New Mexico with the Army Air Corps where they lived for several years before making their home in Spokane. They moved to La Grande in 1984 to be near family. Mr. Musum preceded her in death in 1988.
Mrs. Musum was a member of the Christian Church. She was an avid reader and loved to garden and sew.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Nine brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
