Hobart "Paul" Brookshire

March 15, 1932 — June 19, 2010

Hobart "Paul" Brookshire, 78, of Union, died June 19, at his residence with family by his side. Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Union Cemetery.

Paul was born March 15, 1932, to Walter Zane and Anna Jane Cochran Brookshire in Mitchell. He graduated from Mitchell High School and joined the Navy in 1951. Following his discharge from the Navy, he met and married Mabel Ferguson in 1955.

Paul owned and operated a Shell Service Station in Madras before moving his family to Union in 1969. He was employed at and retired from Boise Cascade particle board plant in 1994. He was a life member of the following organizations: The High Valley VFW Post No. 4060, The Military Order of the Cootie, The American Legion Post No. 43, The Masonic Lodge No. 56 and the Union County Museum. He helped institute the VFW Post in Union and as commander, he was responsible for establishing the property now housing the VFW Hall.

Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping with family and being a part of the community.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel; sons, Dennis Brookshire of Tempe, Ariz., Kenneth Walter Brookshire of Baker City and Gerald Brookshire of Eagle, Idaho; daughter, Kathy Ganung of Union; seven grandchildren; and three brothers, Beryl Brookshire of Union, Charles Brookshire of Klamath Falls and Randall Brookshire of

La Grande. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Lester and Kenneth Brookshire.
