Hinka E. Koopmans Schafer

Hinka E. Koopmans Schafer, 89, formerly of La Grande, died Jan. 12 in Portland. A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at Royal Anne Cherrywood Chapel, 10610 SE Clay St., Portland 97216.

Hinka was born Sept. 12, 1920, to Menno Koopmans and Cornelia Wille at Brusett, Mont.

She is survived by daughters, Susan Allan and Jan and her husband, Steve Bump; sisters, Benita Koopmans and Betty Watkinds Trappe and her husband, Bob; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Carlisle Schafer, and her son, David Schafer.
