Henry Earl Potts

July 19, 1922 — April 5, 2012

Henry Earl Potts, age 89, of La Grande, died April 5, 2012 at a local care facility. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande. The service will include both Fraternal Services and Military Honors. Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to the La Grande School District Angel Fund.

Henry was born on July 19, 1922, the son of Earl Franklin and Marina Christine (Nelson) Potts in Greenville, California. He was raised between California and Granite, Oregon where the family prospected. After graduation from high school he served in the United States Navy during World War II. On March 3, 1952 he married Myrna Collings in Baker. He worked as an electrician for CP National for thirty years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Rusty Wheels Vintage Car Club. He enjoyed restoring old cars and was a talented mechanic on anything that needed repair. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren and visiting Granite as much as he could.

Survivors include his wife, Myrna of La Grande; children and their spouses, Jeri and Keith VanVickle of Cove, Leo and Suzanne Potts of Seattle and Earlene Gillette of Seattle; five grandchildren, Katrina Gillette, Ashley Gillette, Nathan VanVickle, Jeff VanVickle and Casey Gillette; great granddaughter, Emma Rose Gillette; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
