Helen L. Smith

Helen L. (Hallgarth) Smith, 87, formerly of Elgin, died July 31 in Port Orchard, Wash. At her request, there will be no services.

Helen was born May 22, 1923, to James and Ada (Hazelwood) Hallgarth in Elgin. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1941. Helen married Clinton A. Smith of Elgin Aug. 30, 1941. They moved to Bremerton, Wash., where they raised their family.

She is survived by her children, Douglas and his wife, Lois, of Bullhead City, Ariz., Donald and his wife, Lorna, of Port Orchard, Gayle and her husband, Anthony Sindelir, of Las Vegas, Patricia and her husband, Frank Bankes, of Puyallup, Wash., Carolyn and her husband, Granville Wake, of North Bend, Wash., Kathleen and her husband, Joseph Feldmeth, of Ellensburg, Wash., Ronald of The Philippines, Deborah Saylor of Brown's Valley, Calif., and Kim of Bremerton, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brothers, Myron and George Hallgarth.
