Helen Elizabeth Gregory

Helen Elizabeth Gregory, age 78, of La Grande, died Thursday, December 7, 2006 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley

Mrs. Gregory was born March 17, 1928, the daughter of Henry Walter and Florence Hazel (Wellington) McDonald in Ketchikan, Alaska. At the age of eight she moved with her family to Washington state and later to Union and Elgin. She graduated from Elgin High School. On April 27, 1951 she married Robert Gregory in La Grande. She worked as an educational secretary for many years and had worked at all of the La Grande schools except Greenwood. She retired in June of 1988. She was a member of the La Grande Educational Secretaries Association and was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi. Her life was devoted to her family and her work. She loved to read and cook and enjoyed classic musicals and movies.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Gregory; children, Michael and Sally Gregory and Cheryl and Ron Miles, all of La Grande; four grandchildren, Sean and Ian Gregory and Connor and Dylan Miles; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one brother.
