Helen Louise Brown

Helen Louise Brown, age 86, of La Grande died October 29, 2004 at a local care center. Graveside services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Island City Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown was born February 11, 1918 to descendents of Wallowa County pioneers, Jack W. and Mabel C. Vest Emerson, in Wallowa. She graduated from La Grande High School in 1936. She went to Alaska, Las Vegas and Milton-Freewater before returning to La Grande. She married Harold Brown and worked in the lab at St. Joseph Hospital and at the La Grande Clinic from 1960 to 1977 when she retired. She enjoyed crocheting afghans.

Survivors include a son, Robert Brown of Echo; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and other relatives. Her husband, two sisters, Margaret Bolton and Edith Martin and a brother-in-law, Carrol Bolton, all died earlier.
