Harold A. Ott

Harold A. Ott Sr., 90, of La Grande died March 11. The funeral will begin at noon Sunday at the Union United Methodist Church.

Mr. Ott was born Dec. 8, 1915, to Christ and Anna Kirschbaum in Granite Falls, Minn. On March 17, 1940, he married Carolyn Beissel. They lived in Oregon, Montana and Washington and retired to Union in 1975. He worked as a dairyman, logger and small business owner in Newport, Wash., Pomeroy, Wash., Joseph and Elgin. He served 14 years on the school board in Newport.

He enjoyed the outdoors, the mountains and fishing with his son and grandchildren. He looked after his wife at the end of her life.

Survivors include children and their spouses, Jean Garred of Clarkston, Wash., Harold and Kathy Ott of Troy, Idaho, and John and Jane Ott of Cove; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His wife died in 1997.
