Harold Clifton Noble, age 91, formerly of Cove, died Saturday, May 14, 2005 in Hillsboro, Oregon. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley with Pastor Steve Kirkeby officiating. Interment will follow at the Cove Cemetery.
Harold Clifton Noble was born on June 10, 1913, the son of James Monroe and Myrtle (Bell) Noble in Dubois, Indiana. As a child Mr. Noble was raised by his aunts and uncles before spending time in the Indiana Sailors and Soldiers orphanage until he was thirteen when he joined the Millers Brothers 101 Ranch Wild West Show. He traveled the United States with the circus for three summers before going to work in the shipyards of Oakland, California. Mr. Noble later enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country during World War II. While stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas Harold married Lorita Craft on September 25, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas. Together the couple operated a farm in Jenkins, Missouri before moving to Oregon in 1955 where Harold worked in the Kinzue Saw Mill before finally settling Cove. He was a past member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Cove. Mr. Noble enjoyed fishing on the snake river, reading and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lorita Noble of Beaverton, Oregon; children and their spouses, Carol "Sis" June Noble of Beaverton, Oregon, Cecil and Lilas Noble of Huntington, Oregon, Linda and Michael Dow of Hawthorne, Nevada; Patrick and Darra Noble of Aloha, Oregon, Frances and Richard Jacklin of Beaverton, Oregon and Karen Collins of La Grande, Oregon; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. His parents, a brother Farvell Noble and a sister, Juanita Noble all preceded him in death.
