Harold Dean King, 90, of Meacham, a former longtime Pendleton resident, died Dec. 24 at Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande. Burial will be at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, Idaho.
Harold was born Jan. 11, 1919, to Nathan G. and Maude P. Forney King at Boise. He grew up at Caldwell and on March 2, 1940, married Frances O. Taylor at Elko, Nev. He served with the 36th Infantry in France and Germany during World War II.
After his military service the family lived in Idaho until 1952 when they moved to Pendleton where he was employed at Empire Machinery and later at Pioneer Implement. In 1968 he and his wife returned to Idaho to care for his mother. He was employed at Kit Manufacturing in Caldwell until his retirement in 1990. He later lived at Fruitland and Marsing in Idaho before moving to Meacham in 1993.
Survivors include daughters, Nancy Nyberg of Meacham, and Charlotte Forsyth of Ontario; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances in 1990; and by brothers, "Dwight" and Vernon.
