Harold "Bill" Coell Brasure

Harold "Bill" Coell Brasure, 88, of La Grande, died Dec. 21 at the Evergreen Care Facility. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Jan. 9 at the American Legion Post No. 43, La Grande.

Bill was born Aug. 2, 1921, to Harry Brasure and Audrey Kirkwood Brasure-Ramsey in Aberdeen, Wash. He was raised and educated in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and joined the Army to serve in WWII in 1942. He came to the Grande Ronde Valley in the mid-1940s and married Beverly McKlin in 1947. He worked as the regional electrician for Boise Cascade, and also worked for Pepsi and Don & Larry's Distributing.

Bill was a member of the La Grande City Volunteer Fire Department, American Legion Post No. 43, VFW and a honorary member of the Umatilla Tribal Council. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his sons, Mike Brasure of La Grande and Steve and his wife, Donna Brasure, of Lake Oswego; sister, Jacque Punches of La Grande; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly; and son, Les.
