HARLAND STRUCK
Harland La Forest Struck, age 66, of La Grande, died at his home on Sunday, October 5, 2003.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley with Kemit Knight of Damascus Road Ministries officiating. Fraternal services will be under the auspices of the La Grande Elks Lodge #433 B.P.O.E. Committal and full military honors will follow at the Grandview Cemetery.
Mr. Struck was born on February 18, 1937, the son of Grant and Jennie Ione (Perry) Struck in La Grande. In 1955 he graduated from La Grande High School and later served in the United States Navy, the C.B.'s, the Army and the National Guard. He served during the Vietnam War and the Gulf War and retired from the military.
Mr. Struck was a self-employed carpenter and loved woodworking. He was a member of the La Grande Elks Lodge, the American Legion and the V.F.W. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, bowling and golf and loved his dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene (Gilstrap) Struck of La Grande; children, Tony & Michelle Struck of La Grande, Tom & Cathy Struck of Clackamas, Tim & Cassie Struck of Gladstone and Brad & Martina Struck of Boise; step-children, Brenda & Scott Williams of Walla Walla and Curt Gilstrap of Denver; eleven grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon & Connie Struck of La Grande and Monte Struck of Portland; and other relatives and many friends. His parents and a sister, Elaine Myer, preceded him in death.
