H. Eddy Roe

H. Eddy Roe, age 87, of La Grande, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A memorial service will be held on July 5, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Those who wish may make contributions in his name to their favorite charity.

Mr. Roe was born on April 21, 1917 to Raymond and Luella (Tanner) Roe in Perkins County, South Dakota. He came to the Grande Ronde Valley by train in 1937. He drove log truck for J.I. Morgan and Boise Cascade. He worked at Eastern Oregon University in the custodial department from 1971 until 1984. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and tinkering around. Best of all he liked to play his guitar for his family and friends.

In 1938 he married Marva Done and they later divorced. In 1964 he married Eva Breashears. Survivors include his wife, Eva, of La Grande; children and their spouses, Delores and Dan Hawkey and Ronald Roe of Celina, Ohio, Sharon Vera of Gilroy, California, James and Joann Roe of Glide, Oregon and Carol and Ronnie Baker of Summerville, Oregon; eleven grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. A brother, Kelly and a grandson, Michael, preceded him in death.
