Guelda Mastrude

Guelda Mastrude, age 69 of La Grande died Friday, February 3, 2006 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 13, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Guelda Mastrude was born on March 18, 1936, the daughter of Henry Charles and Phoebe Grace (Kenner) Lampman in Lingo, Wyoming. She was raised in Wyoming and as a teenager she moved to La Grande. It was during that time that she met Spencer Mastrude and together the couple later married in Douglas, Wyoming in 1956. Spencer worked heavy construction and the couple traveled to New Mexico, Arizona, California, Washington and Oregon. For a time Guelda worked in Seattle as a property manager before her retirement in July of 2005. She was a member of numerous children's charities and the Tuesday Girls club. Guelda enjoyed canning food, helping others and most of all loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Spencer Mastrude of La Grande; children Billie Mae Carpenter of Magalia, California, Alvin Mastrude of La Grande, step-children, Peggy Johnson of La Grande and Joe Mastrude of Lake Stevens, Washington; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou Gawith of Everett, Washington, Alice Davis, Edith Clabough, Dorothy Hickman all of Torrington, Wyoming, Henrietta Muller of Kirby, Wyoming and other relatives and friends. Her parents, son Michael Mastrude and a brother Charles Lampman all preceded her in death.
