Gloria Bee Turley

Gloria Bee Turley, 65, of La Grande, died Feb. 2 at her home. A celebration of her life will begin at 1 p.m. Feb. 20 at Calvary Chapel in La Grande.
Gloria was born Sept. 13, 1944, to Alvin A. and Bessie (Bennett) Orcutt Sr. in Dunsmuir, Calif. She graduated from Happy Camp High School at Happy Camp, Calif.

Gloria married and began her family and work history in Happy Camp. She worked many years in a veneer plant on the green end and later became a clipper operator. In the '70s, Gloria and her family moved to Eastern Oregon, where she continued her mill work with Boise Cascade until she retired in 2006.

She loved the outdoors and in her younger years she did things such as flying, waterskiing, horseback riding, wind surfing, hiking and camping. She loved swimming. In 1990 she began training for and completed her first marathon. She participated and finished 13 marathons over the years, including one in Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon and several in California. She spent a lot of time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gloria is survived by her brother, Wally Orcutt and his wife, Wanda; sister, Arlene Stewart; and brother, Alvin Orcutt and his wife, Karen.

Children are Devera and her husband, Ken Mitts, Ernestine (Tina) Ramberg, Heidi and her husband, Lyle Follett, and Harvey and his wife, Shawna Snapp; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Orcutt Sr.; mother, Bessie (Bennett) Orcutt; and other relatives.
