Glennis Jean Phillips, 71 of Union, died Friday, May 8th at the Grande Ronde Hospital.
Glennis was born on July 23, 1948 in Clovis, New Mexico to Edwin and Hope (Reed) Fahsholtz.
The family came to Union from New Mexico when Glennis was a freshman in Union High school. She graduated with the Union High school class of 1965.
After she married John Phillips on the ranch out of Union in 1966, when he was home on leave from the Navy, they lived in Pendleton, La Grande and Union then Garibaldi and back to Union.
Glennis challenged all her nursing courses and passed her exam in New York to become a nurse. She worked at the Saint Joseph Hospital, then the Grande Ronde Hospital and later was an ombudsman for nursing homes.
She was an accomplished potter. She loved art and made baskets, stained glass and was a talented photographer.
Surviving relatives include her husband of 54 years, John Phillips of Union; children, George of Union, Cathy of Boise; siblings, Wayne Fahsholtz of Wyoming, Pat Boothman of La Grande, Jacque Fahsholtz of Idaho; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Michele, her parents and a son, Joe.
