Glenn Allen Horn, 75, of Elgin, died May 16 at his residence. Details for a celebration of life will be announced later. He will be buried next to his wife, Patricia, in the Elgin Cemetery.
Glenn was born June 18, 1935, to Clarence R. and Lilly (Southard) Horn in Kimball, Neb. His family moved to Oregon when he was about 5 years old. They settled in Elgin where he attended school. Glenn was married for 57 years to Patricia Rae Ireland. She died Sept. 5, 2010.
Glenn worked several jobs, but mostly he was a heavy equipment operator. He served his country in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. Afterward, he earned his pilot's license. He received several outstanding achievement awards from ODOT.
Glenn said his greatest love was his family and his greatest achievement was raising six children with his wife. He loved fishing and enjoyed wood-working, yard work, flying airplanes and taking up challenges. His enjoyed basketball and football.
Glenn is survived by his six children and their spouses, Teri and Tom Craig of Coos Bay, Jim and Melva Horn of Minam, Steven and Susan Horn of Mount Vernon, Tim and Maria Horn of Meridian, Idaho, Cory and Sue Horn of Hermiston and Melissa A. Archer of Pendleton; siblings and their spouses, Edwin "Tuffy" Horn of Hermiston, Betty and Ray Cross of Elgin, Bobby and Eb Hudspeth of California and Danny and Barbara Horn of Hermiston; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; parents, Clarence and Lilly; brothers, Shorty, Bud, Stanley and Vance; and sisters, Renee and Ginger.
