"Ginger" Laverne Horrell

January 17, 1931 — June 12, 2003

Ginger"LeVerne Horrell, age 72, of Elgin, died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at her home following a short illness.

A graveside service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2003 at the Elgin Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley.


Mrs. Horrell was born on January 17, 1931, the daughter of Kenneth and Eunice (Hendren) Poteete in Arkansas, Oklahoma. The family moved from Oklahoma to Washington State and later settled in Milton-Freewater, where she graduated from high school. In July of 1956 she met George Horrell and she worked in California while he was serving in the military in Korea. On April 28, 1963 they were married in Carson City, Nevada. They made their home on a ranch in Elgin. Mrs. Horrell enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and hiking.


Survivors include her husband, George Horrell of Elgin; son, Greg Horrell of Elgin; brother, Emmett Poteete of Milton-Freewater; half-sisters, Joanne Harris of Pendleton and Phyllis Thom of Kennewick; and other relatives and many friends.
