Gertrude Ella "Peggy" Lovely

Gertrude Ella "Peggy" Lovely, 91 of La Grande, died Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at her home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at the Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Gertrude Ella "Peggy" Lovely was born on September 7, 1913, the daughter of Daniel and Ella (Bachelor) Peterman in Cove, Oregon. She lived in the Grande Ronde Valley for most of her life where she enjoyed her role as homemaker. She married Walter Scott Lovely on December 16, 1937 in Walla Walla, Washington. Walter preceded her in death on May 18, 2005, they had been married 67 years. Mrs. Lovely was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary as well as the Eagles Auxiliary. She loved to garden both vegetables and flowers, enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and friends and dancing the waltz with Walter.

Survivors include her daughter and spouse, Carol and Dale Mattson of Island City, Oregon; sister, Violet Carroll of Stanfield, Oregon; grandchildren and their spouses, Cheri and David Keffer, Cindy and Ronnie Bonney, Cristie and Mike Hedden and Stacey and Loey Mattson; eight great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Her parents, husband Walter Scott Lovely, brothers, Garold Peterman, Vern Peterman and Frank Peterman all preceded her in death.
