Georginia Luella Keltz, age 98, of La Grande, died Saturday, September 28, 2002 at a local care facility.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Island City Cemetery with Warren Curry officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. Keltz was born on April 4, 1904, the daughter of George and Hannah (O' Brien) Dolbow in Mondova, Washington. She attended schools in Spokane and moved to La Grande in 1918. In 1921 she married Carl W. Keltz. He preceded her in death in 1951. Mrs. Keltz worked as the pastry cook for the boy's dorm (Hunt Hall) at Eastern Oregon University until her retirement at age 65.
Mrs. Keltz loved fishing and she enjoyed gardening, canning, crochet and quilting. She was a determined woman who did not give up even in times of adversity.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ernest & Dorothy Keltz of La Grande; daughters, Virginia Traverso of Eugene and Juanita Dunn of Portland; thirteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; one great great grandson; two nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Keltz in 1976 and three sisters, Iva Shultz-Sine, Edna Wilson and Jenny Curteman.
