Georgia Dee Stephas, 69, of Hilo, Hawaii, and formerly of La Grande died October 16 at her home. Mrs. Stephas was born in San Angelo, Texas and was the first female graduate in chemistry at Chico State College in California. She worked as an analytic chemist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and was the science storekeeper at Eastern Oregon University.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Stephas of Hilo; a daughter, Tamara Stephas of Seattle; a brother, Milton Morton of Merrimac, Massachusetts and other relatives.
